About St. Brendan School |
St. Brendan School is a co-educational Catholic grammar school (K through 8) in San Francisco with a total enrollment of 319 students. Our faculty and staff are committed to providing our students with the highest quality Catholic education while teaching them to become active Christians, responsible citizens, life-long learners, and problem solvers.
St. Brendan School, mindful of its mission to be witness to the love of Christ for all, admits students of any race, color, and national and/or ethnic origin, and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, and national and/or ethnic origin, age, sex, or disability in administration of educational policies, admissions policies, tuition assistance programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.
CURRICULUM
St. Brendan School provides a rigorous academic curriculum designed to develop age-appropriate mastery of skills in elementary subjects. In addition to our core curriculum we offer instruction in technology/computers, music, dance, and art.
By the eighth grade, our students average standardized test scores are in the 91-92% range, and virtually all of our graduates have gone on to San Francisco’s best college preparatory high schools, including St. Ignatius, Sacred Heart Cathedral, Convent, Archbishop Riordan, Mercy and Lowell.
St. Brendan alumni have continued their education at the finest universities in the country, including all of the UC campuses, Annapolis, West Point, Columbia, Fordham, Georgetown, Cornell, Stanford, Harvard, and Yale.
FACULTY
Principal: Mrs. Carol Grewal, B.Ed., MAT Besides our principal
and ten classroom teachers, our faculty includes a full-time
technology coordinator, a full-time librarian, two science
teachers, a math/language arts associate, two learning
support specialists, and instructors in art, physical
education, motor skills, and dance. There are classroom
aides for grades one through four, and grade eight.
Athletic directors for both boys and girls are in charge of our well-regarded after-school sports program for grades three through eight.
FACILITIES
Besides our immaculately maintained main school building,
we offer a Learning Center for small group lessons; an
excellent new gymnasium; a top-notch science lab; a 28,000
volume library; and a state-of-the-art technology lab
incorporating 80 laptop and desktop computers with wireless
connectivity and a mobile digital media center.

EXTENDED CARE
Extended care, supervised by a director and three associates, is available after school until 6:00 pm. Children are given a nutritious snack and drink and may take advantage of outside playtime, homework time, quiet time, and indoor activities.
