born in Athens, Greese in the first half of the 7th century
born a rich noble
patron saint of the poor and disabled
feast day September 1st
 after his parents died he took all his money to help the poor
left Greese for  southern France where he lived as a hermit at the mouth of the Rhone River
the French king admired Giles so much he built a monastery in his name
he was a miracle worker and his grave became a shrine and a place of pilgrimage
 many churches and hospitals are named after him
in Spain,sheperds consider him the protecter of rams it was traditoin to wash and color the rams wool a bright shade on feast day,tie lighted candles to there horns,and bring them down the mountain trails to the churches and chapels to have them blessed.
