She was the youngest of 13 children and born in Italy.When she spoke to Pope Leo XIII about to go as a missionarie in China, he anserd, not to the East but to the West.When the bishop closed the orphanage she had 7 other sisters. In 35 years she crossed the atlantic ocean 30 times and established 67 houses. She lost her parents in 1870. she was educated to be a teacher. She visted NewYork and turned to North and South America in 1889. She once wrote I admit my weakness,I'm not afraid of the sea. I would have no curage to travel.She died on December 22nd 1917, while preparing christmas presents for hundreds of chidren.( of malaria) Pope prayer to her,
