Sir  Thomas  More  was  a  lawyer.  He  was  the  Lord  Chancellor  of  England  when  Henry  the  eighth  was  the  King.  As  Lord  chancellor  Sir  Thomas  More  was  second  in  power  to  the  King.  King  Henry  the  8th  wanted  to  divorce  his  wife  to  marry  someone  else. The  Pope  would  not  allow  King  Henry  to  divorce  his  wife.
