Summary
Mrs. Kelly
decides that she should send her children out to the West because she cannot
take care of all of them herself. Frances Mary does not understand why her
mother would send them away but she promises that she will take care of the
smallest child, Petey. They were heading to Missouri and Ms. Katherine Banks
and Mr. Andrew McNair were trying to help the children find homes for them to
live in and parents for them to adopt. Since Frances promised her mom that
she would take care of Petey, she dressed up as a boy so if the farm that
they were living in wanted the boys to do a different chore then the girls
she wouldnÕt have to be separated from her little brother.

Book Review
I thought this book was really good. It had
action, adventure and it helped you learn about history. I thought it was
interesting when all of the orphans starting splitting up and how intense it
must have been for them. It was very sad when all of the orphans were
splitting up, but it was very suspenseful and it made you wonder if they were
ever going to see each other again. I thought this book was a very well-written
story.
