Black History Month
February is a month set aside to celebrate the achievements and develop a great awareness of the influence of Black Americans on our nation, our society and our lives. There have been many famous Black Americans who should be recognized not only for their inventions but also for their dedication to succeed under such challenging circumstances in society.

In this learning activity you will learn about (up to) 33 famous Black Americans and you will be able to complete a 10 point quiz to turn in to your teacher. By following the links you will be challenged to learn at least 5 things about each person listed and you will collect information to be used in a web page for presentation at the end of the activity.

These simple step by step instructions will guide you to a successfully completed project.

Highly Recommended: Read all the steps BEFORE following any links.

  • Step 1: Visit the Education World - Black History Treasure Hunt site
  • Step 2: Choose the link for your grade level, as a starting place.
  • Step 3: When the page has loaded completely, you will see a copy of the quiz page you received.  Use the hard copy to write your answers on and turn in. (due at end of NEXT CLASS)
